
Using a camera that was a birthday present from her husband, Monica took this beautiful image of a caterpillar on corn in a Romanian corn field. She used a macro lens bought shortly after receiving the camera and says that ever since then "the hobby [has] turned into a passion." Her passion, however, might be more a case of nature than nurture. She says her interest in photography is "following in my dad's footsteps."

"Most of us working at Syngenta are interested in agriculture and the environment. Many of us also own a camera of some sort and take pictures when we are out and about. However, most of the time those shots end up in a computer somewhere and few people get to see them. The Syngenta Photo Prize provides a great opportunity to share some of those pictures. If one of your entries is selected and wins, this gives you a lot of personal satisfaction and motivation to continue taking pictures. I do not think there are specific criteria for your picture to win, so just keep pressing that shutter and submitting some of your favorite shots. You never know..."
