Name of image: Caterpillar on corn
Using a camera that was a birthday present from her husband, Monica took this beautiful image of a caterpillar on corn in a Romanian corn field. She used a macro lens bought shortly after receiving the camera and says that ever since then "the hobby [has] turned into a passion." Her passion, however, might be more a case of nature than nurture. She says her interest in photography is "following in my dad's footsteps."
Why should people participate in the Syngenta Photo Prize 2010
and what makes a winning shot?"Most of us working at Syngenta are interested in agriculture and the environment. Many of us also own a camera of some sort and take pictures when we are out and about. However, most of the time those shots end up in a computer somewhere and few people get to see them. The Syngenta Photo Prize provides a great opportunity to share some of those pictures. If one of your entries is selected and wins, this gives you a lot of personal satisfaction and motivation to continue taking pictures. I do not think there are specific criteria for your picture to win, so just keep pressing that shutter and submitting some of your favorite shots. You never know..."
